I'm not a dedicated photographer of birds. I don't sit in a hide for hours on end, but here, in the Bahamas, the herons are quite friendly. They spend time in the garden and on the beach, where I walk every day. The pelicans will be around for a while and then I don't see them for months. Other than that, it is a case of if I have a camera in my hand and a bird alights close to me I will try to photograph it. If I am in a jungle in india photographing tigers, I will amuse myself between sightings by trying to snap any birds that pass by. I have humming birds in my back garden but have to find time to set up my equipment and be in the right spot at the right time. One day soon! I promise!
