Junkanoo is a Bahamian tradition, which has been passed down through the generations. It is said to have originated in slave times, when the slaves were given only 3 days off during the year. Their form of celebration, of those days, has developed into the modern day junkanoo, now eagerly anticipated by the local population each year, as well as becoming a major tourist attraction in The Bahamas.
